New Friends

New Friends

Since the first of April (2018) I have been keeping a list of new people I meet.  These are people I actually have a conversation with and have the sense that we connected.  This page will be dedicated to these new friends, whom I may never see again, but will remember.

1.  Dagmar:  I met Dagmar at the grocery store while looking for vitamins.  She is a clerk there and was quite helpful.  We talked for quite a while and found we had many things in common.  She is somewhat younger than myself but we talked like we had been friends for a long time. It was a refreshing time for us both.  She is a beautiful woman who offers knowledge, compassion and caring...while working.  Dagmar is from Germany.

2.  Holly:  Met Holly at Cirque du Soleil held in PDX.  She sat next to me and was very friendly.  I found out right away that her boyfriend was part of the production and she was visiting from the UK. Nottingham, to be exact.  Holly is a special education teacher for teenagers at risk and in need of help. The lucky young people who have Holly as a helper have hope.  She is a beautiful young person who makes a difference in this world.

3.  Lacreatia:  We met in Death Valley at the Furnace Creek Ranch while eating an ice cream sandwich.  She is close to my age which is not old...but retired.:)  The day we met she had just finished a miles long trek from Zubrinski Point to places unknown in the dry desert.  She said she went off the trail and didn't know where she wandered.  Her obvious abilities to find her way around the desert were apparent.  She made it back to her car and back to the Ranch just fine.  She told me of running nearly out of gas one time and stopping at several very remote homes with no luck for help.  One last little abode she stopped at had a very nice non English speaking resident who gave her five gallons of gas!  What a nice guy and Lacreatia was able to use her language skills to talk with him.  She was from Switzerland, here on vacation, and wanted to experience the desert alone. Not to over use the word "beautiful" but she was!

4.  Who will be the next?

  2. I was so struck by these women and felt they were placed in my day for a reason. Each one was very different than myself and I am grateful for their input. :)
